Pearl technology comes to Blu-ray

The revolutionary Pearl technology that ties television to the Internet without interrupting on-screen programming is coming to Blu-ray.

Nexnet's tool kit provides Blu-ray DVD formatting and its potential of greater on-line sales of soundtracks, and increased promotion of upcoming films with longer movie trailers.

Blu-ray 2.0 disc players start hitting the market this fall and they must be Internet ready. Pearl will ride the wave of Internet-connected Blu-ray 2.0 players and an estimated 11 million PlayStation 3's that have BD-Live capability.

Pearl's tool kit makes it easy to use Blu-ray's expanded bookmarking capability inside movies, concerts and other DVD programming. Driving more traffic to the Web will increase profitability and extend the life of each disc. Plus, Nexnet servers will store Blu-ray-linked content for years. Emails and onscreen text can be changed over the life of the disc, providing studios with endless potential and continuing revenue streams from long-finished films and other entertainment programs.
